Democracy defeats the masterstrokes of Narendra modi
May 2014. From This month, a new chapter of the history of the
Indian politics began. Ironically, politics also tried to rewrite the history books
after May 2014. In May 2014, PM Modi led BJP party-formed government with
the absolute majority in the Lok sabha. BJP won 26/26 seats in Gujarat, 7/7 in
Delhi, 25/25 in Rajsthan. Trivia is that, in 2014, if you had a journey of Financial Capital to Political capital, all Lok sabha constituencies that you had come across during Mumbai to Delhi were of MPs of BJP.
PM Modi introduced many changes as he had an absolute majority. One of the first decisions was the abolish the planning commission which was the linchpin institution of the economic journey of India after 1950. PM Modi has taken the unprecedented decision of the demonetization which proved the disaster. But here I like to discuss political experiments and not the economic experiments of Narendra Modi.

It becomes a fashion now to Criticise politics based on the name of the religion and caste. But it is not so. In Diverse countries like India, Caste and religious politics have a role to play to enrich democracy. But It should not be mixed with Communal politics and Castesist politics. When you mobile follower of the Hindu religion for the Demand of Building a temple, There is nothing wrong with that. In Democracy, this is a way to express your demands. But if you mobilize Hindu citizens to demolish the Muslim masjid, it is communal politics. Rajni Kothari used to use a Phase "Democratic incarnation of the caste" in India for the mobilization of the backward caste in politics.
Now let me give two examples to explain the point - Just think that if there was no BR Ambedkar and if he had not mobilized untouchable for political power, would the socio-economic conditions of the untouchable had been improved? If Narendra Modi had not represented the demands of the Hindu citizen then would the demand of the crore of Hindus for the Ram temple in Ayodhya had been ever fulfilled as UPA have done the Mulsim appeasement politics for the 10 years. Ironically, Modi came to power by becoming the voice of the people and so Media painted him "Masihhah" but later he imposed his will on the citizen while choosing CM for them.
In Gujarat, both BJP and congress follow an unwritten rule that if there is Patidar CM then their state party chief should be Kshatriya. If State CM is Kshatriya then the party chief should be Patidar. Likewise in Uttrakhand, If CM is Bramhin then the Party chief should be Khatriya and vice vversa. This is not casteist politics but it is respect of the democratic values. But after 2014, BJP and especially Modi have subverted these democratic values.
PM Modi who was immersed in the power of the absolute majority has taken decisions that disrespect the citizen's demand. PM Modi has started his man kee bat and asked the citizens to simply listen to him. Media changed their frequency and fall in love with Modi's talk but citizens remain on their radio frequency which forced Modi to tune the frequency through which he can hear the citizen's deamnd.
2019 Haryana elections were fought on the high flame of Hindu politics. At that time I had written that I would not be surprised if BJP win 91 seats out of the total 90 seats of asmeby. But, BJP can not even reach up to the majority mark of the 45 seats. BJP had to form the government with the Jat Chautala and had to make Dushyant Chautala Dy. CM. BJP met the same fate in the Jharkhand where they reduced to 25 seats from 39 seats earlier. A tribal leader Hemant Soren of the JMM became CM. Likewise in Maharashtra, Shiva Shena came to power which remains a voice of the Maratha for the 3 decades.
As written above, Gujarat has a tradition of the Patidar- Khatriya, CM - Party chief, and vice versa. But Modi had made a Jain Chief minister and there is nothing wrong with that as minorities have equal rights to have their voice and representation in democracy. But what is wrong was that Modi had made Non-Gujarati CR Patil as BJP Gujarat chief. Here Modi should have made Patidar person as the BJP Gujarat chief. Patidar felt that they are being sidelined in the power lobby. Later on, Patidar's social leader began to meet every second weekend to started to discuss the socio-political issues. Finally, Just a few weeks back, Patidars have openly announced that- Patidar wants to see the next CM of Gujarat from the Patidar community and here is the result
These 5 names are in media discussion to become the CM of Gujarat and all 5 are Patidar.
