Indian express and Hindustan times published fake news

Indian Express tweet - Almost every household in India now has access to tap water, says PM Modi

Indian Express Article - Almost every household in India now has access to tap water, says PM Modi

Indian Express report on 2nd October event of the Prime minister’s interaction with Gram Panchayats and Pani Samitis on Jal Jeevan Mission.

Here Prime Minister said - "Since the launch of the Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019, five crore households have water connections now. Today, water is reaching every household in 1.25 lakh villages of about 80 districts of the country"

Interestingly, the Indian express article itself mention that the Prime minister have said so. When Indian express knew that PM talked about the completion of the water supply connection in 80 district, how can they post headline which says "Every household in India has access of the tap water"?  I think Indian express might have forget that India have more than 700 district and not 80 district about which PM talked.

Here is the official goal of the Jal Jeevan misison

The Same PIB have the exclusive twitter handle @PIBFactCheck  to burst the fake news. I have tweeted them and also sent an email to them to inform about this fake news of the Indian Express. It has been more than a week but they have not acted yet.

Now let me move to fake news of the Hindustan times

6 october tweet of HT - Event in which MoS Ajay Kumar Mishra was chief guest put on hold

Hindustan times news - Event in which MoS Ajay Kumar Mishra was chief guest put on hold

Hindustan times writes -

[ A Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) event, in which union minister of state for home Ajay Kumar Mishra was invited as the chief guest on Thursday, has been put on hold, people familiar with the development said.

He was to attend ‘7th national conference of heads of prisons of all states/union territories’, organized by BPRD at its headquarters in Mahipalpur, as the chief guest.

However, a BPRD spokesperson said on Wednesday that the October 7 program is ‘on hold’, without giving any specific reasons. ]

Reality is that - there was no official statement of the BPRD on the PIB or their twitter handle regarding the event on hold. I don't know from where Hindustan times quoted the statement of the official spokesperson of the BPRD.

The Event went as per the scheduled. There was no change in the event, Hindustan times Published the fake news. Here is the picture of minister of state for home Ajay Kumar Mishra addressing in the event. You can check the date in the tweet.

Here in the end I would like to make also comment of the So call fact checkers. Alt news, News laudry etc marketed themselves as fact checkers  in India. But what they are doing is not fact check actually. It is kids works to burst the news of the whatsapp up and opindia. If they are really fact checkers, I should not have to write this blog post on the day of the Navratri and I have the pleasure to listen Garba rather than writing such stuff on the Navratri. Real fact checking is the very hard work. Real fact check is to find the number game in official papers, discrepancies in the government announcements and implementations, fake news reporting by the well establish media house like Indian express etc. This is tough task. So, So call fact checkers like alt news opt easy way to burst the news of whats app which actually doesn't matter to anyone and but by doing so they are trying to build up their image as the Fact checkers.
