Army person :- Indian defence forces come first whenever we do discussion about Indian Nation building , they do job for us and make great patriot behaviour shown by tham many times !

1. Sam Manekshaw : the man who can win war only through mind !

Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, MC "Sam Bahadur" (lit. Sam the Brave) (3 April 1914 – 27 June 2008) was a Field Marshal of the Indian Army. His distinguished military career spanned four decades and five wars. Manekshaw rose to be the 8th chief of staff of the Indian Army in 1969 and under his command, Indian forces "concluded" a victorious campaign, the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.

Famous Quotations

On the military knowledge of politicians: "I wonder whether those of our political masters who have been put in charge of the defence of the country can distinguish a mortar from a motor; a gun from a howitzer; a guerrilla from a gorilla, although a great many resemble the latter." [15]

On being asked by Indira Gandhi if he was ready to fight on the eve of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971: “I am always ready, sweetie."[17]

On being placed in command of the retreating 4 Corps during the Sino-Indian War of 1962: “There will be no withdrawal without written orders and these orders shall never be issued.”[17]

About the Gurkha: "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha."[2]
To a surgeon who was going to give up on his bullet-riddled body who asked him what had happened and got the reply, “I was kicked by a donkey.” A joker at such a time, the surgeon reckoned, had a chance

2. Field Marshal Kodandera "Kipper" Madappa Cariappa ,His distinguished military career spanned almost three decades, at the highest point of which, he was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Military in 1949.

During the 1965 war, his son, an Indian Air Force pilot, was shot down over Pakistan. He was captured and imprisoned as a POW. When Ayub Khan learned about this, he informed Cariappa he would not be kept in a POW Camp like other Indian POWs, since they had worked together before independence. But Cariappa politely declined the offer, saying every soldier in the Indian Army was his son, so he could not request special privileges for only one.

(ayub khan and karippa worked togather before 1947 , during the war they are the head of two different country )

* After India played its first match in the 1936 Olympics, Dhyan Chand's magical stickwork drew crowds from other venues to the hockey field. A German newspaper carried a banner headline: 'The Olympic complex now has a magic show too.' The next day, there were posters all over Berlin: Visit the hockey stadium to watch the Indian magician Dhyan Chand in action.[3]

* After seeing his prolific play at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Adolf Hitler offered Dhyan Chand, a Major in the British Indian Army, German citizenship and an offer to promote him to the rank of a Colonel (which Dhyan Chand, of course, refused).[3][4]

* In Holland, the authorities broke his hockey stick to check if there was a magnet inside.[3]

* On one occasion, a lady from the audience asked Dhyan Chand to play with her walking stick instead. He scored goals even with them![3]

* Cricket world's legend Don Bradman and Hockey's greatest player Dhyan Chand once came face to face at Adelaide in 1935, when the Indian hockey team was in Australia. After watching Dhyan ChandBradman remarked "He scores goals like runs in cricket"[3]
