“You are invited to the festival of this world and your life is blessed” ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Version 1.1
Festivals are the LOGO of India on the map of world . Festivals have special importance in our life . It's true to say that festivals are the days that give positive energy to us to live through out happy !
Many festivals are a reflection of our relationship with the land , fertility, or with spiritual beliefs of various descriptions.

For the women it means cleaning the house and decorating it according to their artistic inclinations and proving their culinary skills to satisfy their wards and their hubbies.
For the children, it is a time to be away from the tedious schools, with savories to munch all the time, new costumes and plenty of free time to roam around with their friends. Festivals also reinforce the presence of God in the life of the individual, the family and the community as a whole.
“The truth is that existence wants your life to become a festival...because when you are unhappy, you also throw unhappiness all around. ” ~ Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh
Version 2.1
But,The commercialization of festivals has eroded their real significance, now, festivals have not only it's cultural imporatnce, it became economical and political !
That was something ten years back; Liberalization of economy in the early 90's brought big MNC's into the Indian market. Advertisement became the need of the day. Manufacturers started luring the customers with added gifts. Diwali, Holi and Christmas Dhamaka became common marketing ideology.
Lohri, a festival of state of Punjab which was traditionally celebrated with singing Geedha and performing Bhangra is now celebrated with loud remix music across the country.. Now people in Tamil Nadu also celebrate it.
Navaratri is the special one which is most commercialized festival, there may be only few who celebrate it as a festival dedicated to the worship of a Hindu deity Shakti. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights.[2] During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshiped.
In navaratri the Gujarati newspaper headlins like that : This year Navatri market was around RS.800 crores , There is clear hike of 15% from last year ! Gujarat become totaly wet state during these nine days. there is increase in the selling of condoms around 50% than common day . entry pass value is about Rs.100- Rs. 1000 !
Even the government sensed the change in thinking and declared a holiday for Onam in the state of UP, far away from the place of it's actual evolution.
In Uttarayan , the various company print their own kites carrying their advertisement , In gujarat MOdi government celebrate it with vibrant Gujarat and kites Carrying the Agenda of Gujarat Government !
Today, It's EID, I do not know much about it, but I can show many politicians in the dress of muslim and wearing topi , they wished the EID but it's not from heart it's only for Increasing Vote bank !
The same happened with Chhat puja which was traditionally celebrated across the bank of a river in the Hindi heartland is now celebrated in Mumbai inside a swimming pool.
Holi have it's own style and tradition, but today's holy is totally look different than the original, public goes to pub and swimming pools, drink wine and do violent acts , these become style of celebration of holi
Rakshabandhan a public festival and a symbol of Unity and brotherhood but now, it became the symbol of Cadbury advertisement!
Same in the the case of Holy festival Rath yatra , we all know about it's political importance but now All news channels also took benifit of that and show live telecast of it direct from Puri and Ahmedabad and make huge money in commercial advertizemt.
