Reservation – A Hen that gives golden eggs

 We all know that what is the reservation and How it work but very few think about it’s comparative outputs. Reservation have the same importance in Indian society that Gun have in Military and Gold and Dollar in Economy. Every one want it and all running for it. 

 

As We know that the Gold is Subject of economics but have the social Value as it increase the prestige , similarly the reservation related to the Social arena  but it have impact on economy and I think that no one ( Or few) line out this.

Ravish sir ( NDTV ) did interview of the Hardik patel ( Interview link)  and Ask Question : “If the Unemployment and Inflation is the problem of Patel Youth then it’s also be problem of the young people of the Other caste” . Though Hardik can not give the answer properly I have the Answer :-

All Have the problem of the Inflation and Unemployment but the “Reservation” work as the shock absorber or  Pressure valve to the SC/ST/OBC and make the Effect milder while the General category have to face the sever face of the Inflation and unemployment. Now You will ask how Reservation work as Shock absorber to the Inflation ? Here is Answer :-

(The root cause of the Patel Youth agitation is that They Took loan and completed graduation ( Mostly engineering- The following part mainly link to same) and Now There is no job in market and Farming also facing the Sever crunch. )

First of all ST/SC/OBC students have the choice to get the admission in nearer college due to advantage of reservation while General student have go far for study which increase the expenditure of the hostel and food. Secondly SC/ST/OBC student got the scholarship for the study so they do not take the loan.( Or loan lesser then the general ) . In addition even they need to take the loan there is some government schmes for the SC/ST/OBC students which have the lower interest rate loans And last but not least OBC/SC/ST student have the high chance of the getting jobs due to reservation.

Though this is the just case of the Benefits of the reservation after the Higher education , I Give the Title of the article : “Reservation – A hen that gives golden eggs” . Here is the explanation for that :-

Earlier ( And Even today) Dalit section of society have the argument that : The upper caste child have the advantage over the Dalit child since the birth as he/she born in high social status family. This is perfect true for the OBC/SC/ST society today in perspective of the economy . Child of these family have the Advantage over the General caste child form the birth certificate to the Death certificate. 

Special Schemes for the pregnant Women in SC/ST – Special Resident schools for the SC/ST – Scholarship in school for the SC/ST/OBC – Reservation in colleges ( And Cheap loan and Scholarship) -  Jobs – Reservation in the promotion of the job – Less interest loan for the startup of the business to OBC/SC/ST – And Many more in the chain that I may not know.

Now the Question Must arise in the Mind that What message that I want to convey through this Lalit Nibanadh ?

Except the Job and Education , Constitution don’t say to provide the Cheap loan , Scholarship , Special Health schemes etc. Exclusively for the SC/ST/OBC – This is all by the executive action to the appease the minority for the votes.

Now You may ask the Question That : How Can I say this is part of the Vote bank politics and not as empowerment of the backward community ?

Here is Answer , If these efforts for the upliftment of the Weaker section then the list of the OBC/SC/ST community will decrease year per year but in contrast , the OBC list increase from 33 community in 1992 to 147 community in 2014 . This reflect  that Either Govt. failed to implement the shames and Wide scale corruption in schemes OR These schemes are part of the vote bank politics.

Now , Move to the conclusion : What Is my perspective on the Reservation ? 

Reservation is necessary in Indian Social conditions for the implementation of  the Vision of the founding father of the “Equality of Opportunity”. There must be Reservation for the weaker section. Don’t Forget that Most weaker section was the “Women” During the time of the independence then also our Constitution make the provision of the women in Directive principal not the Fundamental right section.

The Important thing is that On what are the bases the Reservation  ? I Strongly disagree with the Argument that Many dalit Leaders said : “Upper caste people Suppress us earlier and due to that they are less advantageous to the upper caste today” . This is similar to the Gandhi’s Quote of “An Eye for the eye make the World blind” . If dalit want the reservation for the past dos of the upper caste then Reservation is not solution.

Weaker Section indeed the reservation – Weaker section may be on base of Gender ( Say Transgender) , On base of Caste ( Say Dalit) , On base of class ( Who get less then Minimum wages ) , On base of region ( Some Hilly terrain where less employment opportunity ) . What ever the base for the reservation , the Important thing is the periodic revision of the Bases. 

Since last 65 years there is reservation for the SC/ST and 20+ years for the OBC , There is no review or the update for the reservation bases. It must be reviewed after the every 10 years . New bases included and Old Removed on bases of the Census Data.
