Grass root Chang in India : Glimpse of stationery shop

Due to Phobophobia ( A Phobia of uncertainty ) - I never Like to Go on Heavy traffic road and choose the road Which the 2 Km Long but less busy. But Today I Enjoy the “Uncertainty”. In evening went to the stationery  shop and there was crowd due to Opening season of the school. Though there is no space in store,I stand I Wait there for 15 minutes for my turn. Don’t know why I waited there but there is something interesting which force me to stay there.

There were Two Female with 5  school going kids of the age of 7-10 years and 1 kid of the 2 year . These Person belong to labor class and Come with the Rupees in Hand ( Not even have the pocket to carry cash). They were buying the Full scale notes , Small notes , Double Line Notes for English writing , Pencil etc. There is a charm on the face of the each kid which we generally not find on the face of the kid during opening of the school season.

Sometime ago I read a tweet on my time line that : “ Condoms and Sterilization are the 2^nd and 3^rd most important reason behind the Decrease in population growth , The School Expenditure Remain at the top reason” . (Pearson write this in the Context of the Delhi school donation )

But here the Scene is totally different , There were 2 girl and 3 boys in that 5 kids. This make significant Dent the Long Conceived theory that Poor People Don’t spend in the girl education and Girl child in the poor family have to bear the responsibility of the household and Care of the Younger Sibling.

A girl ask for the “Rubber” .

Shopkeeper Said : “Which brand – Apsara or Nataraj”

Girl Replied ( Surprise to me ) : “Apsara”

This show that How the Market force penetrating in the Lower strata of the society. “Apsara” Brand Considered as the Superior and Costlier than Nataraj. I Don’t even Think that That girl know about this brand and quality.

The All Five kid were Totally Aware about the Need of the their stationery   – Mean Need different type of the note for Math ( Cross line ) , English ( Double Line) , Other etc.  In fact their mother didn’t know what type of the stationary need in the school , Its those kids who “Ordering” the Statutory to the Shopkeeper.

This is the totally contrast scene of the “Elite” Kids. I am Quite sure that , Kids who study in Private Schools “Must” Not know about their stationery need. Even the mothers of the Elite Section of kid don’t aware about statutory as the school provide stationery  in the classroom itself.

Now , I Understand why Gandhiji said “Literacy is not Education, Education Is Vast subject”. A kid Get 90% in school is Totally waste if he/She Don’t know about the Price of the Pen That He/she use in exam.
