What the President of the republic of India didn't tell about his government

 With the efforts of my Government, a strong foundation has been laid in the last five years, to make this decade India’s decade and this century India’s century.

 The faith reposed by the people of our country in our democratic institutions strengthens the foundation of our democracy.

• India has reached an institutional abyss 

Work done by this government on the ground level in the last 5 years has helped India's ranking on several International ranking indexes.

The abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Constitution through two-thirds majority by both the Houses of Parliament is not only historic but it has also paved the way for equal development of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

 "My Govt is dedicated to turn India into a $5 trillion economy. We're discussing with every stakeholder and work is being at every level of the economy to turn this into reality.

•  Raghuram Rajan - If you have to move from $2.7 trillion to $5 trillion economy, it will take seven years if the economy grows at 9% per annum and eight or nine years if it grows at 8% per annum.ndia’s growth rate has been slipping for five quarters now. The GDP growth for the September quarter slumped to a six-year low of about 4.5 per cent. “Reaching $5 trillion by 2025 is rules out as we are not in that region at all. The GDP growth may not exceed 5% for 2019-20. For 2020-21, perhaps the economy may pick up and even then, growth may not exceed 6%. Therefore, we are not anywhere near 8% or 9% of growth which is required to reach the $5 trillion economy.

More than the physical distance of the North East from Delhi, it was the emotional disconnect that disheartened the people of the region. My Government has transformed this situation by working tirelessly during the last five years. 

• Northeast on the boil for the third day over CAB 

The Govt recently signed the Bodo Agreement, ending the crisis that saw 4,000 people lose their lives. The Govt will also spend Rs 1,500 crore to develop the areas in the Bodo regions.

My Government is working with utmost sensitivity towards fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the divyangjan 

•  On Wednesday, amidst rain, candidates from the persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) category staged a protest in Delhi against the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) of Indian Railways on the reservation norms being applied in the hiring process (RRB Group D) of country's largest employer.

 We have all been witness to the increase in the atrocities on minorities in Pakistan over time. We have all seen what happened in Nankana Sahib recently. It is the responsibility of all of us to bring the atrocities being committed in Pakistan to the notice of the global community. 

•  CAA and NRC is internal matter of India - MEA

Under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, more than Rs 43 thousand crore has been deposited in the bank accounts of more than 8 crore farmer families.

The Govt is working dedicatedly to give farmers at least 1.5 times the cost of production to the farmers of India. 

• Higher MSP is good, but do you know only 6% farmers can sell their crops at MSP?

My Government along with the State Governments is working with sensitivity to provide relief to farmers from natural calamities. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, on an average, every year, more than five and a half crore farmers are availing crop insurance cover at a very low premium. 

• As India reels under an acute farm crisis, Modi government’s flagship crop insurance scheme helped both public and private insurance companies to profiteer by as much as ₹118 billion

Reduced cost of stents and knee-implants has provided huge relief to lakhs of patients. 

• Last year, a series of reports in this paper revealed the traumatic experiences of Indian patients who had received faulty hip implants manufactured by the pharma major, Johnson and Johnson. Another investigation by this paper, last week, has revealed that Johnson and Johnson paid hefty compensations to US patients who had received the defective implants. In India, however, the company has challenged government orders to compensate 4,700 patients who had undergone hip replacement surgeries.

By setting up the National Medical Commission, my Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reform medical education and healthcare.  

•  There is also a counter argument that the Bill may not bring down corruption and commercialisation in medical education in any significant way. The NMC Bill decreases seats under controlled fee structure from 85 percent to 50 percent, helping the private colleges, many are owned by politicians themselves.

To empower women, the govt started the self-help groups. Over 6.60 crore women have joined these groups so far. These women have been provided with loans at very low-interest rates.

 My Government is working with sensitivity for ensuring the safety of women.

Today, India is home to the world’s third largest start-up ecosystem. Under the Start-Up India campaign, recognition has been accorded to 27 thousand new start-ups in the country.

More than Rs 37 thousand crore has been sanctioned for modernization of 75 educational institutions in the country through the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA).

In spite of global challenges, the fundamentals of Indian economy are strong. Our foreign exchange reserves have reached a historical high of over USD 450 billion. Inflow of Foreign Direct Investment to India is also on the rise. As compared to last year, FDI has increased by USD 3 billion between April and October this year. 

• By attracting FDI, mainly to service and e-commerce sector, may lead to quick profits for investors, but it will not bring more jobs to the people. Hence, attracting FDI to ‘Make in India’ initiative has to be the main endeavour of the government, even though it will be difficult. The FDI in India is highly concentrated and Mauritius is the top source of FDI into India in 2016-17. Singapore is next biggest source and together they account for 50 per cent of total capital inflows. In 2016-17, total FDI grew by 9 per cent to $43.5 billion. Mauritius route is nothing but round tripping of Indian investment which prefers to go to Mauritius to avail of the Double Tax Avoidance Treaty which means it is going to ‘brown field investments’ in existing enterprises. The treaty has been amended but will come into force only from 2019. The preferred destinations are Mumbai, New Delhi and Chennai. But the rest of India hardly attracts much FDI and that is where the unemployed youth are.

Due to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, nearly Rs 3.5 lakh crores have also been recovered by the banks and other institutions. 

• Of the first 10 cases for which resolution plans were approved under IBC between August and December, 2017, financial creditors were able to recover only 33.53 per cent of the total outstanding claims from defaulting borrowers. On June 13, 2017, the RBI identified 12 large loan defaulters where IBC procedures were initiated. More than one year later, except Bhushan Steel and Electro Steels Ltd., only two of the 12 companies, no other company has seen resolution.

The fundamental mantra of independence was a Self-reliant India. A self-reliant India is possible only when every Indian takes pride in every product made in India. My Government believes in the mantra of ‘Buy local for a better tomorrow’. 

•   A member of the Congress party pointed out that the Prime Minister was wearing Maybach sunglasses worth $1,995 or more than Rs 1.4 lakh. In the pictures, PM Modi can be seen looking at the Sun while wearing his Maybach glasses with his solar glasses in hand.

 Similarly, about 35 lakh people have so far travelled by air under the UDAN scheme. Last year, 335 new air routes have been approved.

I am glad that the positive impact of the Namami Gange Mission launched by the Government has now started becoming visible. 

• A map released by the CPCB shows high level of coliform bacteria in the river. Out of 86 live monitoring stations installed in as many locations, only seven areas have been found to be fit for drinking after disinfection process, while 78 have been found unfit.

My Government is of the view that foreign policy is a vital ingredient of the country’s economic and strategic security. We are stimulating economic growth and prosperity by increasing connectivity with our neighbouring countries. "Neighbourhood First” policy is our priority. 

• Besides affecting its own citizens, the CAA and NRC will harm India’s relationships with its South Asian neighbors, particularly with Bangladesh and Nepal.
