June 2018 - Arvind Subramanian said on Wednesday that he
was stepping down as the Union government’s chief economic adviser (CEA) and
would return to the United States to take care of pressing family commitments.
There was speculation in media about his disagreement with the
government policies’ pushed for his resignation. But the official reason cited
was – Personal ground. “My departure from this job for entirely personal
reasons. It is no secret that we are expecting our first grandchild in early
September. That’s a very compelling reason that takes us back to the old life,”
said Subramanian.
After 2 years, In July 2020 – He Returned to India and Joined
the Ashoka University. What he did during June 2018-2020 is not new to me. But
he came to the limelight with his resignation letter to the Ashoka University.
With this resignation, He became the darling of the liberals while the fact is
that he was the CEA of the rightist government.
Now let me come to the main point, how he is hypocrite! He
wrote 300+ words letter of the resignation to the Management of the university
which is published by newspapers. Following are my questions to him: -
- How’s His family circumstances changes drastically in short span of 2 years for which he left the most coveted job of the CEA, Government of India?
- He Announced to leave the university only after the completion of the current ongoing Academic year but Why he left the Indian economy in mid-ocean of the aftereffect of the Demonetisation?
- In His letter of resignation, he is concerned with the “Mahol” of the university. He also shared his resignation with his colleague as he himself mentioned. I would like to ask, Why did not he do the same to citizens of India when he was CEA and part of the government decisions of the demonetization and GST?
