When the Information & Broadcasting minister of the India lie to Nation

Vaccines become the subject of the new political ruckus between Maharashtra and the Central Government last week. CM of Maharashtra and the Mayor of Mumbai alleged the shortage of vaccines in the state. In Reply to that, Union Minister of the Information and Broadcasting (I & B) Prakash Javadekar who hails from Maharashtra held the press conference on 8 April and blamed that the Maharashtra government wasted 5 lakh of doses. 

On the other hand, the information provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to me in reply to RTI says a different story. As per the MoHFW records, The government of Maharashtra wasted 3,94,278 doses of the vaccines till 11th April (That Included the waste of vaccines of 8, 9, and 10th April). This means the I&B minister presented the data with an exaggeration of 1.06 lakhs that means the data presented by Javdekar is 25% more than the actual waste of vaccines. 

As per the MoHFW records till 11th April noon, Maharashtra received a total of 1,13,62,470 Covid19 vaccine doses. Maharashtra wasted 3.47% of the doses received. This means Maharashtra wasted 3,94,278 doses which is 1.06 lakh lesser than claimed by I&B Minister.

In the same press conference, the I&B minister criticized the Maharashtra state government for the mismanagement of the vaccines. He Said “(Maharashtra) wasted five lakh doses of the vaccines, and it is not a small number, due to its lack of planning. The planning for carrying out a vaccination drive is the responsibility of the state government"

Meanwhile, as per the MoHFW records, Maharashtra vaccine administration is one of the best amongst all states. Maharashtra wasted 3.47% of the doses. BJP Ruled state UP Wasted 5.5%, Haryana wasted 9.74%, Assam wasted 7.69% of the Covid vaccine doses. AIMDK ruled Tamilnadu topped in the waste of the covid vaccines by 12.10% of the waste.

 The situation is similar to the Superhit song of the Superhit movie Amar Prem starring Rajesh Khanna - चिंगारी कोई भड़के,  तो सावन उसे बुझाये, सावन जो अगन लगाये,  उसे कौन बुझाये, ( when a spark flares, rains extinguish it, but when a fire is started by the rains, who can extinguish it?). Press Information Bureau run (PIB) run the program of the fact check of news but what to do when the Minister under whom PIB works provided wrong information to press like this?
