It's bad idea to shift the responsibility of welfare to corporate

To understand this blog, one must have the basic idea about some civic and political concepts. It's very vast topics to discuss but let me introduce some in brief here. There are three key player of the political system - State, Citizen and Private organization.

Whom we call country is actually State. State formed by the Social contract. Its contract among the citizens where citizen handover responsibility to the Government (State) to maintain order, safety and welfare of citizen. On other side, Citizen themselves are bound to pay taxes, follow rules of government etc. to uphold that contract.

This Social contract is similar to Business contract of the some material supply. When A and B sign a business deal, A Promised to provide material to B in XYZ time and B promised to made payment after getting material. Likewise, In Social contract, when citizen obey state rules, Its state responsibility to ensure the welfare of the citizen.

Second is legitimacy. This social contract gives legitimacy to state to rule citizen. State enjoys legitimacy and so can use force on citizen. But in Social contract neither citizen nor private party (Tata, Reliance etc) enjoy legitimacy to rule. In Social contract - State have monopoly over violence cause it enjoys legitimacy.

You may not find any link between two but there is deep link in both.

First one is about the PM care fund. There is ongoing trend in India to donate in this fund. It's considered as gesture of being good citizen to donate in this fund. It is that but there is fundamental discrepancy linked with that and one should aware about that while donating that most of not aware. Let me put some light on that.

Why governments need the support of the fund from private people to fight with corona? Government running from money? In that case, Government can and should increase taxes on citizen to raise money.

By PM care donations, Government not just handing over the responsibility of the welfare to citizen but it automatically legitimizes the corporate to rule citizen. When Government cannot take care of the citizen that simply mean that Government breach the social contract with citizen and space is likely to fill up by those who take responsibility and its corporate. So corporate likely to enjoy legitimacy.

Now let me link this to second picture. Second picture is about the violence broke out in Harayana after the Arrest of Ram Rahim.

Let me ask question to readers, Why Ram Rahim was so popular in Haryana? Why Dera culture thrives in Haryaana and Pubjab? The straight answer is that- They provide food, health and education to citizen. Means they are providing welfare services to citizen. As I write above, when Dera provide welfare to citizen, it's natural that Dera wish to enjoy the legitimacy to rule the citizen.

This was precisely the reasons that supporter of the Ram Rahim dared to challenge the state ( Policy, Judiciary) after the conviction of the Ram Rahim. In Media we have seen many pictures of the Ram Rahim where MLAs and Ministers standing hand folded to Ram Rahim. In general terms, we call it "Swag" but this comes from the Legitimacy that Dera enjoys.

I hope, Now You can understand the link between two pictures. Today corporate taking responsibility of the People. So don’t be surprised if tomorrow police beat the farmers to acquire land for these corporate cause when these corporate taking welfare responsibility, it's very likely that they will assert their legitimacy. Unlike Ram rahim, these corporate games are played behind curtains. So Think!

I am not advising against to help the needy or Donating the PM care fund. If you can, please do it.  I am just wanted to ensure that these donations don’t change any equation of the social contract. The roles and Responsibility of the State (Government) must remains intact.
