Neo capitalism need ventilator to survive against corona

The USA is the Home of Neo capitalism. Neo capitalism is basically an economic model which argued to give free hand to corporate. It's argued for Lower corporate taxes, lesser labour regulations, Free trade etc. This Model believes that it will "raise all boats" mean it will help everyone to become more prosperous. On this model, the USA remains to depend upon the private sector for healthcare. USA's Medical system is based on the Insurance model. Ensuring the health of the citizen is not a duty of the government in the USA (in Normal days).

But let see what is happening there. President Trump pressuring Corporate to deliver Ventilators.

This is an unprecedented development. Remember that the 2008 financial crisis was the most severe crisis in History of the USA till then. It began with the fall of the Lehman brothers (3rd largest bank of USA) but USA government refused to bailout it because it went against the principle of the Neo Capitalism. USA allowed free fall of the bank then and today American president asking the Corporate to bailout Government by providing ventilators!!

It's not just about ventilators but you must hear about the $1200 cheques that USA giving to its citizen. This also went against the core belief of the Neo Capitalism model. Neo Capitalist (Forgot name) economist even argued that State (Government) should not even support the Handicap person from taxation money. This is subject of academic debate regarding the taxation so I don’t go into details of that.

Let come back to the point, as we know that the fatality rate of the corona is very low. Its impact only old people whose immunity is weak. Likewise in the subject of economics, Corona divulges the lower immunity of capitalism to the world. Neo Capitalism tested positive for corona!

It's not only that the Neo capitalism is faltering against the battle of the Corona but it's responsible for the outbreak of the Corona! It's ironical that corona emerged from china, An Archrival of capitalism but it is the capitalist model of the global economy responsible for its worldwide spread of corona. How? Let's understand this.

Karl Marx wrote that - Capitalism inherently seek to abolish all state borders. Mean capitalist model promote Globalization. There was a question of 15 marks in UPSC in the year 2018 which ask candidates to write upon - How Neo Capitalism promotes globalization?  A capitalist goes to anywhere in the world in search of the cheap resources and market. We all heard the name of the Nestle! A Switzerland based Dairy Company. It Procures milk from Africa, Processed in Europe and sell products to Asia. A capitalist also a Human. Human is a virus carrier. A Virus which outbreak in wet market of the Wuhan of the china city reached to Europe and the USA from these Virus carriers.

As a Reader, You may think that I suggest the closing down states borders forever. Yes, I suggest so! Now you may think that’s radical and impossible idea to do so. But Believe me, it is not so. It's practical! ( Not complete shut down borders but reduce interaction by becoming self-dependent) 

I am just talking about the Self Dependent state of 130 Crore people but Gandhiji's economic model was based on the Self Dependent village! Gandhiji's Economic model envisaged upon a community of the 5000 people which are independent themselves for their needs. It's Does not mean the complete seizure of the Villages or Nation Borders but it argued for them as less as possible dependency on others. And Ironically USA also accepting this. Look What the USA director of the Trade, Peter Navarro said a couple of days back - "USA is dangerously over-dependent on a global supply chain for medicines, medical supplies, and medical equipment, suggests deregulation following coronavirus pandemic to facilitate domestic manufacturing.

My basic argument is that if we  have lesser interactions with each other, Corona will not spread across the globe and it's possible to have such an economic model.

But, Neo Capitalism is not just a contributing factor for the spread of the Corona but it's the reason behind the outbreak of the Disease like Ebola, Nipah, Corona etc. All of these are zoonotic diseases. It's passed to human from Animals. Neo Capitalist model needs cheap resources. In search of these resources, we enter in the world of the animals. For the Cheaper timber, Hydropower, Medicines we devasted the kingdom of the Animals and today virus of the Animal, Corona took the whole world in its possession.

A reader may ask a question of that what is the alternative?  My Answer is "Small is beautiful". The economic model proposed by the Gandhiji and Gautam Buddha is the answer to get rid of the capitalist model. Rather than seeking maximum pleasure, we have to learn to minimize our needs.  Ironically the Founding figures of the Neo Capitalism Model - Mrs Thatcher and Regan gave the slogan of TINA (There is no other alternative) in the 1970s to favours Neo Capitalism but today, Corona forced us to think about the alternative.

Capitalism is another name of the consumerism. It measures the growth in GDP numbers. In this model, Growth increase when you consume more medicines (As more Doctors), More Divorces (Service of lawyers) when you drink bottled water etc. but can we call it Development? NO! This crisis of the corona gives us an opportunity to think about the alternative. Most people in the world propose Socialism as an alternative but it's not! It takes our freedom.  Gandhian Model is worth to debate today.

One may argue that capitalism gives many things to the world including this laptop on which I write a blog. I agree! There is no denial that Capitalism made our life easy. But I like to ask a question - On Which cost? We pay the immense cost that right now we may not calculate but our future generation will for sure. Let me give one example, People of Punjab overjoyed this week when the saw Himalaya from their Home. This becomes possible only when we paused the Industrial production, The engines of Capitalism.

As we all aware that ventilator can give temporary life to the patient, Likewise, Capitalism on a ventilator may survive for a few more years but we have to find the alternative. We have to recognize the boundary between the kingdom of the Home Sapiens and Animals to prevent zoonotic diseases like corona and ebola. We have to minimize our consumption to see clean Ganga and Himalaya from Punjab. We have to become self-dependent to not face such helplessness for medical kits and ventilators in future. On the Report of the Redevelopment of Kutch after the 2001 earthquake, World bank noted that- Kuttch convert disaster into development opportunity. Corona also provides us with that opportunity to learn lessons.
